About Us

Helping Hands Housing Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1993. The organization was formed to provide permanent affordable housing and other support service to the working poor communities of greater Phoenix. Our housing is provided through affordable multi-family housing units (apartments) owned and operated by the organization. Our support services are free to our residents and are delivered through our Program Services department at each of our communities.

Helping Hands Housing Services serve a very low-income population. Our four (4) metropolitan Phoenix communities are comprised of 208 apartment units where we serve +/- 700 persons, half of which being under the age of 16.

The average household income at our four communities is less than $8,950 per year. Further, each of our families averages 2.5 children each.

At Helping Hands, we believe that every family deserves a fair chance at a quality life. In order to achieve this goal, our families need a place that they can call HOME, one that is clean and safe and most important, truly affordable. If we allow it, poverty begets poverty. The common denominators with all of our very poor families are (1) lack of education and (2) lack of skill sets that will allow them to earn greater income. As a result and in an effort to help the children break this dreaded cycle of poverty, our Program Services department places great emphasis on the education of the children.

Although by definition Helping Hands is not a “faith based” organization, we like to think of ourselves as a very faithful organization and group of servants. God put us here to serve Him and we do so by serving our brothers and sisters in need.
